I am a 4th year Applied Nutrition Student at the University of Guelph and plan on becoming a Registered Dietitian. However, my university career started at the University of Windsor, where I studied biology. In the beginning, like many other students, I did not know what my future career aspirations would be. It was not until the end of my third year that I started to gain genuine interest in the subject of human nutrition. This interest was sparked after taking a biochemistry class on metabolism. I found the material of the class to be engaging and consider it to be one of my favourite classes of my entire university career. Although my interest in the program began in my 3rd year of studies at Windsor, I decided to finish my undergraduate degree before beginning a new endeavour.
Nutrition has always been a part of my life and like many others, I have struggled to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As a student, I know it is hard to do so when several factors seem to be going against us, particularly time and money. It is especially difficult in our current North American society, which does not necessarily make the right choice the easy choice.
I have always wanted to share my healthy eating ideas with other students, but never knew how. I finally discovered the answer upon enrolling in the Nutrition Education (NUTR*4070) class at the University of Guelph. One of the choices for class projects was to create and manage a blog and as a result Nutrition4Students was born! Through this blog, I hope to help other students learn how to incorporate healthy habits into their busy schedules.
Please feel free to post comments and let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy!
